Samsung's Portable CT Scanner: A Great Potential

Samsung is well known nowadays for its android mobile phones but that is just the tip of the iceberg, samsung has shown interest in the medical field since it first opened the Samsung medical center in 1994, in fact samsung has a medical device company established a long time before that in 1985 they established the Medison

But when do things get really interesting with samsung in the medical field is when they acquired NeuroLogica in 2013, as it is a medical imaging company that introduced portable CT scanners the BodyTom and the CereTom and you are advised to watch the video below to have a better idea about these two wonderful innovations.

BodyTom
CereTom
A CT is conventionally a very large machine that needs loads of power a chiller and a specially designed room for shielding purposes, these conventions were all torn to pieces with these two scanners as they allow battery operation, they are portable and can get to the patient room instead of having to take the patient to the Scanner room thus minimizing any implications that can take place during moving a patient to Scanning room.

I wrote an article before about iCT and how helpful it can be in the OR, but this innovation can be used in other places also like ambulances, yes there are ambulances that already have CT scanners in them using the CereTom. So this will allow the doctors to get images before the patient arrives to hospital which allows for valuable time for them to exactly know what the kind of operation that is needed so when the patient arrives to hospital, they will get him directly to surgery.

This innovative idea will aid in improving medical care quality to patients that are at high risk of having brain damage that can be fatal.

So what do you think about this innovative technology, if you have any remarks or comments please write them below.
