Nanotechnology Uses in Medical Field

Introduction of Nanoparticles

The introduction of nanotechnology in medicine is the pharmaceutical approach to formulating drugs as nanoparticles for diagnostic and curing diseases in a targeted drug delivery system.  Nanotechnology is considered to be at a size below 0.1 m or 100 nm (a nanometer is one billionth of a meter).

Nanoparticles are potential drugs which in low amount produces rapid onset of action by enhancing solubility through an increased rate of dissolution. Based on the uptake of murine macrophages nanoparticles has an optimal size range of 10-250nm and surface range between   -10mv and +10mv.Nanotechnology in medicine emerged as two branches, Nanodevices, and Nanomaterials where Nanodevices act by respirocytes.

How Gamma Knife Works

The word knife is a misnomer, this is basically a non-invasive (non-surgical) technique which uses intersecting Gamma rays emitted from a radiological material usually Cobalt 60, the technique is also called stereotactic radiosurgery.

The knife has an associates specialized software program which helps the doctor to locate and irradiate small targets in the head (brain), blood vessels and other tissue with extreme precision. An intense dose of the radiation can be given on the target area leaving the normal surrounding tissue unharmed.

You might confuse Gamma Knife with CyberKnife, but each one has different approaches, mainly a Gamma Knife targets the brain and cervical spine with mainly one treatment session while a CyberKnife can treat brain cancer in almost all body parts in about 5 treatment sessions.

Dental Equipment Intro

Academic qualifications and experience are one the key things patients look for when they want dental care. However, the equipment in a dental clinic makes a huge difference. Everything from the sterilization equipment, to the imaging equipment, should be top-notch if a practitioner wishes to provide the best dental care, which is the purpose of this department/clinic. We’d like to walk you through on some of the best and upcoming dental equipment and technology.

Types of Dental Equipment

When you have problems with your teeth and/or gum, you visit a dental clinic. There you will be treated by a dentist, who is a medical practitioner.
When you visit a dental clinic, the procedure is like any other clinic. The dentist will check you, diagnose the problem, and come up with a treatment plan. For all these steps, the dentist uses different types of equipment.
The types of dental equipment you will find in a dental clinic include:

Handpieces

Hand instruments, also known as handpieces, are tools you will find in any dental clinic. They are used for functions such as tooth and gum examination, cutting and removing teeth, carving and polishing teeth, teeth cleaning, and, teeth filling. Having the correct and recent handpieces for each function is essential.

Spinal Cord Injuries Treatment Using Nanotechnology

Nanotechnology is the study and application of tiny things. This is majorly used in almost all fields of science such as biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, etc. Richard Feynman, also known as the father of nanotechnology, introduced the idea of controlling and manipulating atoms and molecules. Nanotechnology has led to interesting developments in the field of medical science.

Nanotechnology is currently under development. The current studies of nanotechnology comprise the delivery of drugs to the right cells with this technology and the use of nano-robots, nanochips, and nanowires in the future. It has also been discovered that nanotechnology has the potential for treating neural tissue. This can lead to the cure of many diseases that have no proper treatments nowadays.

In the future vision, nano-robots could be manufactured that would make repairs on things as tiny as a cell. Nanoparticles can be used to deliver drugs, restoring neural connections, etc. to specific cells. This way, damaged cells in the human body could be repaired easily and diseases could be diagnosed at an early stage.

Most of the sectors of nanotechnology are still under development. This includes nanoparticles which will be used to deliver chemo drugs directly to cancer cells. This would dramatically reduce negative impacts of chemotherapy on the human body.

Artificial Intelligence Impact Within Medical Industry

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an essential part of the rapidly developing technology industry. It is the creation of intelligent machinery that works and reacts like humans. The power of the modern day technology and the precision of mathematics enabled the creation of Artificial Intelligence.

The features of these supermachines include speech recognition, planning, reasoning, perception, and learning. These machines then have the ability to recognize problems and find the most applicable solution for each problem. Minor AI technologies have already been implemented in various sectors of our lives such as Apple’s Siri, Pandora, flying drones, etc.

Artificial Intelligence is yet to make its mega revolution in the healthcare sector. There are companies that are working on projects which can absolutely revolutionize the medical field!

Da Vinci Robotic System: Revolutionary Surgical System

Da Vinci Robotic System is an FDA approved robotic surgical system which was created by an American company called Intuitive Surgical. The study of the human anatomy, which was done by Leonardo Da Vinci, was the cause of the creation of the Da Vinci System. Surgical robots, that are a part of Artificial Intelligence, are self-powered. They are computer-controlled appliances and are programmed to operate surgical instruments in a very expert and professional manner.

This system assists in performing surgery with the minimally invasive procedures. Without the aid of Da Vinci Robotic System, operations would require incisions of various sizes. These incisions would increase the risk of infections, prolong the healing duration of the wound and in some cases, could leave permanent scars.

Bionic Lenses: Eagle Eyes

How many of us have heard this phrase "He has Eagle eyes!" well, now it has become a possibility for all of us to have these eagle eye. Thanks to advancements in ophthalmology section in the medical field we are now at the verge of a new technology that allows us to have a bionic lens that can be 3 times as good as the normal 20/20 vision.
Eyes And Eye Care

These Bionic lenses will not only be able to make you see clearly but will also allow you to see at all distances and at a very sharp vision! Those how have reduced vision will not only restore their normal vision but will also be able to see better! How exciting is that?

Dreams Reconstructed Using FMRI with Pattern Recognition

Isn't it an amazing thing to be able to see your dreams in a recorded video so that you can actually see your dreams after you wake up? Well, let's see how scientists are trying to do so...

Facts about dreams
Facts about Dreams
Actually, this is not a very new idea for scientists and it trials originated since 2009, the Japanese were trying to catch dreams since that time. Now since that time, there are many advances in various technological fields that might aid tremendously in the progress of dreams reconstruction.

Some of the technologies that contribute to achieving such a goal are Artificial Intelligence in addition to advancements in FMRI machines as well. Furthermore, faster supercomputers are becoming much faster.

How Dual Source CT Becoming Promising New Imaging Method

Dual source CT (or DSCT) is a yet another new innovation in the CT industry, but instead of making it more difficult to simulate the X-Rays emitted from the Dual X-Ray tubes, what are the advantages that are provided in such system and is it a really new innovation or just a flashy name that would boost sales and spice up marketing campaigns?

As the name suggests, a Dual-source CT scanner has Dual X-ray tubes and thus 2 receivers, note that there are different concepts of dual-source CT scanners, but in this article, we are only focusing on this type of dual-source CT scanners.

There is space for using the Dual-source CT in two main operation modes, the first mode is to have the 2 X-ray sources working in the same dose called the "Dual Source Scanning", the other mode is to have the Dual Source CT to work in two different doses called the "Dual Energy Scanning".
